This October for Words on Wednesdays, we welcome Jo Moseley, author of the bestselling Stand Up Paddleboarding in Great Britain – Beautiful Places to Paddleboard in England, Scotland and Wales.
In summer 2021, Jo set off with her board Grace, named after the RNLI heroine Grace Darling, to research beautiful places to SUP. From Loch Ness to the Lizard Peninsula, Ullswater to Wells Next The Sea and Afon Teifi to the Regent’s Canal. She slept on her board under the stars, saw dolphins, seals and huge jellyfish and paddled at sunrise and sunset. Jo will share stories of the beautiful places she visited, the kindness of the SUP community and helpful tips on safety, starting and progressing in SUP.
In 2019 Jo was the first woman to SUP coast to coast picking up litter and fundraising for 2 MinuteBeachClean Foundation and the surf therapy charity, The Wave Project. A film about her adventure called Brave Enough – A Journey Home to Joy has been screened at prestigious film festivals such as Kendal Mountain Film Festival and Sheffield Adventure Film Festival. Watch the trailer here. She is also the host of the popular The Joy of SUP – the Paddleboarding Sunshine podcast.
