As high street and independent bookshops struggle in the face of online competition, we know we need to do more than just sell books. That’s why, as well as offering the nostalgia of a warm and welcoming local bookshop, we also aim to be a dynamic hub of ideas.
We host regular events for book lovers of all ages; from ‘Words on Wednesdays’ our monthly evening event, where we hear from writers and poets, great and small, from near and far to Saturday Storytime, a regular 10.30am occurrence where book-curious children 6 and under (along with their well-behaved parents) can join us to hear an old favourite or a new discovery read aloud.
We want to work with schools and the local community to promote new ideas and initiatives. Through book clubs, ‘walking’ book clubs, poetry slams, storytelling events, book launches and writers’ workshops – we seek to share knowledge, cause conversation and bring people together through the spoken and written word.
If you’d like to use Verey Books as a venue for your Book Club or literary get-togethers, please do get in touch and we’ll do our best to help you.
