‘Harrison Ward, perhaps better known as Fell Foodie, is a passionate self-taught cook since childhood, food has played a key role in most of his life. A sudden life change in 2016 brought a relocation to the Lake District and an introduction to hiking and the outdoors.
A new passion was ignited and it wasn’t long before his love of cooking was merged with this new appreciation for the fells. Harrison produces restaurant-quality dishes in remote locations using minimal equipment. He takes modern practices back to their primal roots and shows what can be cooked in the mountains as well as sharing the importance of time outdoors for physical and mental wellbeing. He is a brand advocate for Volvo Car UK, recently featured on Channel 5’s ‘Winter on the Farm’, the BBC in Dame Mary Berry’s latest series ‘Love to Cook’ and was named an Ordnance Survey Champion in 2020.
In his debut book, ‘Cook Out’, published by Vertebrate Publishing, Harrison presents 85 recipes designed specifically to be cooked outdoors on single burners. Ideal for adventurous hikers, campers, caravanners or simply outdoor foodies, ‘Cook Out’ is the inspiration you need to elevate your camp cuisine. Alongside recipes, the book features extensive information around equipment, countryside code and hints & tips for improving your fodder on the move.
Harrison will be showcasing his book at Verey Books, talking through his journey behind the pages as well as advice for how to progress your al fresco meal repertoire whether its cooking from scratch or prepping something tasty at home to take with you. And of course there will be samples of his food on the day!
