Following a traumatic brain injury that forced him to reassess and reframe his outlook on life, Charles Lowther (Charlie), owner of Askham Hall, CIEL Hotels and the new energy behind Sharrow Bay, first came to poetry as a creative, therapeutic and cathartic outlet in 2024 at the tender age of 46.
‘Connected Ramblings of a Lakeland Poet’ is his first anthology of poetry.’ He describes it as ‘…a way in. A portal to the magic connection we can feel inside often in beautiful moments of solitude in nature.’
In this rather special Words on Wednesday event, Charlie will share some of his poetry while also exploring his rehabilitation journey and how this art form and spending time in nature has been fundamental to that. A rare and very personal insight into one man’s cognitive and spiritual recovery through words.
